Here’s a chardonnay so sophisticated and graceful that it seems to have been around for a long time. Instead, it’s a new release, made from grapes grown in the Firepeak vineyard in the Edna Valley on California’s Central Coast.

The grapes are four different chardonnay varieties. The oak barrels used for aging are French and so is the winemaker. The grapes benefit from one of the Central Coast’s longest growing seasons and yield a floral, tropical fruit aroma that is reinforced by hints of pear and peach in the mouth and balanced by lively acidity.

Here’s a wine to serve with shellfish, fin fish or chicken with a rich cream sauce. The price? $25.
