Every time you toss out fresh tortillas, you’re throwing away a perfect opportunity for custom-made tortilla chips. In honor of the upcoming Cinco de Mayo holiday, here’s a way to make these crispy snacks from baked flour tortillas. They’re simple to make and customize, and they taste better than store-bought.
Heat oven to 400 degrees. Using a pizza cutter, cut tortillas in wedges. Place on cookie sheet or jellyroll pan; brush with olive oil. Salt to taste. (Additional seasonings also be added, such as freshly ground pepper or dried coriander.) Bake until golden, 5-7 minutes; be careful not to overbake. Remove sheet from oven; let cool. Store chips in sealed plastic bags.
