Board members agreed to construct a new road entrance on the north end of the site, several hundred feet north of the entrance on Illinois Highway 53. The existing entrance would be limited to traffic making right turns.
The board also agreed to put the entrance of the clubhouse in the center of the 9,600-square-foot building rather than shifting it to the north end.
“Aesthetically, the central door is better,” said Commissioner Barbara Bakel.
The board also agreed to take bids on a partial basement and a full basement.
The clubhouse would be at 5900 S. Illinois Highway 53 and include a restaurant, pro shop, locker rooms, a deck and a basement for storage. The new structure would replace the Hatch farmhouse, which the golf course now uses.
Architects estimate that construction on the new clubhouse could begin in September and be completed by June 2003.
