Village officials have temporarily halted the waiver of building permit fees for non-profit organizations.
The decision came after trustees waived a building permit fee Monday for an addition to St. James Episcopal Church.
Trustees Susan Berna and Margaret Jefferson voted against waiving the fee for the church, saying it should be imposed because of the size of the addition, the time needed for inspection and the cost to taxpayers.
The village’s policy has been to waive permit fees for all non-profit organizations, excluding fees for plan reviews, which are done by an outside consultant, Village Manager Joseph Cavallaro said.
The board also waived a $690 permit fee for the First United Methodist Church.
