A former Northbrook figure skating coach accused of sexually assaulting a Lake Forest girl he had been coaching has been charged with giving the girl cocaine.

Matthew Harmon, 33, of the 300 block of Woodlane Court, Wood Dale, was charged Saturday with one count each of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance and unlawful delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a park.

Harmon turned himself in to Northbrook police Saturday and was free on $7,500 bond.

Last month, Harmon was charged with criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse for allegedly having sex with the girl.

According to Lake Forest police, Harmon allegedly gave the girl cocaine in Northbrook on Nov. 10, then inappropriately touched her before they drove to Lake Forest, where they allegedly had sex (this sentence as published has been corrected in this text). Harmon is accused of sexually assaulting the 17-year-old girl who he had coached since she was 12 (this sentence as published has been corrected in this text).

“We found out about it after she told her mother,” said Lake Forest Cmdr. Dave Field.

Harmon worked for the Northbrook Park District as a skating instructor until he was fired Jan. 18, Field said. Assistant Lake County State’s Atty. Matt Chancey said Harmon posted $10,000 bail Friday.

Harmon faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted of the sexual assault charge.
