The Sensational Excursions program of McHenry County College is offering a day trip to the Fireside Dinner Theatre in Wisconsin for a performance of the musical “A Little Bit of Ireland” on Jan. 26. Gold and Silver Gala, the 13th annual benefit for the Hearts for Homeless Families Transition program of Catholic Charities in the northwest suburbs, begins at 6 p.m. Feb. 23 in the Allgauer Hilton, 2855 N. Milwaukee Ave., Northbrook. The shelter program places homeless families with children in apartments. The event will begin with a social hour and a silent auction, followed by a four-course gourmet dinner with champagne. A live auction will follow. Tickets are $75 a person or $750 for a table of 10. Shaw’s Crab House, 1900 E. Higgins Rd., Schaumburg, will offer a “Tastes for Two” Valentine’s Day menu from Feb. 14 to Feb. 16. The weekend menu features such dishes as jumbo shrimp cocktail, whole Maine lobster, Alaskan king crab legs, oysters and a “Chocolate Lovers” dessert for two.
