The Chicago White Sox’s last game approaches, but loyal fans can extend the season with “Sox Appetit,” a cookbook from the White Sox wives. Most of the 100 recipes are from spouses of the players and staff, but not all.
“There are actually some of us who could cook before we got married–I don’t know how many but there are a few,” said relief pitcher Kelly Wunsch, who contributed his recipe for Southern fried chicken breasts and gravy.
Also in the mix: Big Hurt’s lasagna from Frank Thomas and garlic herb chicken from Sandy Alomar Jr. Color photos and various “stats,” personal and professional, are included too.
The cookbook costs $15 plus $2 shipping. Proceeds benefit Gilda’s Club Chicago, a group that offers emotional and social support to those with cancer. To order, call 312-674-1000 or get an order form at www.whitesox.com.
