Carpentersville’s new police chief will start work Monday.
Robert Lowen, 49, a 25-year veteran of the Park Ridge Police Department, was named police chief last month. He will receive $75,000 per year.
The search for a police chief began in November after Phil Major, who had served in the position since September 1998, left to take a similar position in Minnesota. After his resignation, the board appointed Deputy Chief Dave Neumann as acting police chief.
Lowen’s hiring comes after a selection committee reviewed more than 70 applications and interviewed five finalists.
