This wine comes from one of two great white wine grapes of Bordeaux, semillon (sauvignon blanc is the other). This semillon has been transplanted to Washington State. The winemaker followed French technique, though, fermenting it in French oak barrels and aging it on its lees for five months. Fig is a flavor often associated with semillon, and it is quite noticeable in the aroma of this wine, as are citrus and vanilla. The flavor gives hints of melon and apple. Try it with Asian dishes and shellfish and summer salads that combine chicken and fruit. The price: $8.
