player ready...A new central detention pond that is expected to hold water from heavy rains long enough to prevent some Orland Park and Tinley Park homes from flooding is expected to be completed by spring.
The Orland Park Village Board last week awarded the contract to R.A. Bright Construction Inc. of Naperville to construct the pond on land owned by the Tinley Park Park District at 80th Avenue and 171st Street. Work on the pond started this week.
The detention project is designed to offer some relief from flooding to residents in Orland Park’s Fernway subdivision. During heavy rains, the pond will contain flood water that will later be released gradually into the local streams and sanitary sewers.
