An Orland Park Village Board committee voted 2-1 Monday night in favor of a proposal to open a billiards parlor.
The lawyer representing the developer of the pool hall said he is seeking informal approval from the Orland Park Village Board before moving forward with plans. The village’s longtime ban on such a business was lifted two years ago to allow a pool hall.
The committee agreed to poll the other Village Board members and the mayor to gauge support for the license.
The business that Ayman Owaynat proposes would be in a shopping center at 15730 S. Harlem Ave. The plan calls for the parlor to be open from 10 a.m. to midnight daily. No food or liquor will be sold, said attorney Ed Schussler.
Trustee Richard Della Croce, a member of the Public Works, Building and Engineering Committee, voted against the proposal because he said the developer did not provide information on his background or experience in similar businesses.
