The Orland Park Village Board this week approved more than $1 million in construction contracts for the village’s new 82,000-square-foot recreation center.

Contracts were awarded to the low bidders: L & J Reimer, of St. Charles, $254,400 for the site development plan; K-Five Construction, of Lemont, $265,630 for paving; R.A. Brite Construction, of Naperville, $153,330 for concrete; and LenCox & Sons, of Joliet, $237,220 for sanitary- and storm-sewers installation.

The project will feature basketball courts, a soccer arena, running track, a youth training center and locker rooms. A 10,000-square-foot indoor pool is being planned but will not be built during the first phase of development.

The two-story facility will be built on 11 acres at 159th Street and 113th Court and is expected to be completed by January 2001.
