Semillon is probably most familiar as a blending partner with sauvignon blanc. Here it solos in the spotlight.

This is a dry semillon from Washington State’s Chateau Ste. Michelle. It’s slightly exotic: First you sense a bouquet of melon tinged with figs and honey, then a clean citrus flavor arrives to help the wine taste lean and fresh. It’s refreshing, but it’s also a wine with substance. At a suggested price of only $8, you can pour this semillon generously as an aperitif or with chicken, seafood or pork prepared with Asian seasonings.
