About a thousand kids will sign scholarships to play basketball at Division I colleges this year. And about a thousand of those think they eventually will play in the NBA. Guess what? Eight of them will. That’s right, eight out of 1,000. . . . Kids don’t want to hear this. They suck up all the smoke blown in their faces by the recruiters. They have parents and friends asking what they plan to do with all the money they’ll make. They believe it all. They are lying to themselves, just as the basketball community lies to them. Someone needs to tell them that only eight of them will make it! When they stand there, mouths open, repeat it. You have about the same chance of winning the lottery as being a lottery pick.
MAKING THE NBA? GOOD LUCK!
