PORTRAITS BY YOUNG ARTISTS

If you and your child need a time out from each other while you’re Christmas shopping on Michigan Avenue this weekend, the Terra Museum of American Art has just the thing. “The Artful Shopper,” a workshop for children ages 8 to 12, will provide two hours of creative entertainment for kids beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday. Aspiring artists will get to make woodblock prints (using Styrofoam, of course) and craft picture frames; they’ll also create holiday greeting cards and wrapping paper. The Terra Museum is at 666 N. Michigan Ave., and reservations for the $7 class must be made on Friday. Call 312-664-3939.
