We’re talking about temporary tattoos, and the bigger, bolder, brighter and wilder the better. And your parents can chill, cuz they wear off in a week (give or take a few days) or can be instantly rubbed away with alcohol.

Lots of stores have staggering stashes of temporary (and inexpensive) tats; we had kids test some, and you’ll find out the results on Page 2. But if you want to create your own designs, go for a paint-on kit. You’ll pay more to play more, but these kits let you make a ton of tats.

We like Paint-On Temporary Tattoos, a kit from Temptu (that’s it to the left). It costs $25 and contains six bottles of paint, a brush, setting talc, brush cleaner and 18 tattoo transfers – that’s enough to make up to 50 tattoos (depending on size, natch). In Chicago, find the kit at June Blaker, 730 N. Wells St.; or order it through Temptu, 1-800-972-9682.
