A 41-year-old Joliet man was killed Monday night when he was thrown from his vehicle in a two-car accident on Interstate Highway 80 in New Lenox Township, Illinois State Police said Tuesday.
A vehicle driven by Robert J. Krause, of the 1900 block of Calla Drive, and a vehicle driven by Lawrence Berry III, 24, of Lockport each were heading westbound in the left lane through a construction zone on I-80 about 8:30 p.m., said Illinois State Police Sgt. Jay Iechholzer. Near Maple Road, both vehicles changed into the right lane simultaneously, and Berry’s vehicle struck Krause’s vehicle in the rear, causing it to flip, Iechholzer said.
Krause was thrown from the vehicle and killed. Berry was not injured, police said.
Iechholzer said no charges had been filed.
