We put our ’97 predictions together with the advice of some experts (namely the editors of Seventeen magazine and the folks at Toy Manufacturers of America). Here’s the scoop:
SNACKS: The best guzzles will be crystal clear — as in sports drinks. And forget low-fat snacks — chow on super-rich Reese’s Crunchy Cookie Cups (they added a chocolate cookie on the bottom). They’re due in stores Jan. 13

SOUNDS: U2’s new album, due in March, will have an electronic beat you can dance to, setting the stage for a revolution. Electronic music that has been simmering under-ground for a few years is going mainstream.
THREADS: Go for clogs, Mandarin collars, shirts with paisley or calico prints, crocheted sweaters or vests, anything lime green or lilac and wide-leg jeans. And polish up with Chanel’s new Ciel De Nuit (night sky).
TOYS: Nintendo 64 and stuffed animals with something to say (think Tickle Me Elmo and Real Talking Bubba) will stay hot. And it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that “Space Jam” stuff will stay big-time.
MOVIES: Lights, cameras and ACTION. “Speed II: Cruise Control” and “Alien 4: The Resurrection” might be rated R, but there’s always “Titanic,”””The Lost World” (a “Jurassic Park” sequel), “Batman and Robin” and “Volcano.”
