Corey Maggette is the driving force behind eighth-ranked Fenwick’s basketball team.
But it was teammate Chris Williams who led the Friars down the road to victory Saturday night at the St. Patrick tournament for the third straight year.
Williams scored 22 points as Fenwick (3-0) cruised past the host Shamrocks (2-1) 59-46 and claimed the tourney title. Maggette, who was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player and was a member of the all-tournament team along with Williams, added 12 points to the victory. Terry Frigo led St. Patrick with 17 points.
“(Williams) is an outstanding offensive player,” said Fenwick coach John Quinn. “He’s got to step it up on offense. He showed that tonight.”
