Question: I always get confused when my ball gets caught in a bunker right after it has just rained. How do you play a wet sand shot?
Timber Trails Golf Course pro Tom Byrd answers: Basically, you approach a wet sand shot like you approach a dry sand shot. You just have to adjust your swing and make it easier because the ball gets buried more compactly into the sand when it’s wet. When the ball is wet, it slides farther with the same swing.
Approach the ball with an open stance, hit an inch below the ball, and take an outside/in swing. You just need to realize that the ball will fly a little farther.
