She doesn’t have children, but Lori Bernstein, 32, knew enough about parents’ angst over their wee ones, and about publishing, to launch a newsletter from her home.

She conceived The Little Times newsletter several years ago as a quick but thorough read on everything busy New York City parents needed to know to raise healthy, safe and happy children, from newborn to age 8.

Now, Meigher Communications has purchased her “baby,” kept her on as editor-in-chief and broadened the publication’s focus to serve a national audience.

“They liked the idea of a one-stop shopping newsletter for people who didn’t have time to read books and lengthy magazine (articles) about parenting, but who had 30 to 40 minutes to devote to the issues,” Bernstein says.

A lot of parent subscribers-50,000 to 65,000-agreed with the publisher.

“They have all sorts of concerns and worries. Do I stay home from work and for how long? They’re hungry for information,” she says.

The 20-page newsletter includes amusing and helpful articles (a divorced father expresses his feelings about guilt), a child-friendly gourmet column, lots of tips (Are your kids tripping over untied laces? Wet laces before tying) and drawings.
