The Solid Waste Agency of Lake County has voted to support a bill being considered by the General Assembly to ban leaf burning in counties with a population of more than 100,000.
The bill, introduced by state Rep. Andrea Moore (R-Libertyville), would exempt towns with a population of 1,000 or less. It is identical to a bill vetoed by Gov. Jim Edgar in a controversial decision in 1993.
SWALCO voted to back the bill at its Thursday meeting.
