Daryl Michaels is used to solving problems for homeowners. But it wasn’t until his elderly grandmother slipped and fell in her bathtub that he realized he needed to add a sideline to his design business.
While there are a few products to make bathtubs slip-resistant or faucets scaldproof, Michaels says, no place sells a gamut of items to help old–and young. Such products may mean the difference in whether an elderly person remains at home or is placed in a nursing home, he adds.
Nine months ago, Michaels opened Interior Design Concepts in a showroom at 2418 N. Clybourn Ave. The showroom displays more than 25 items.
