A car salesman was indicted by a McHenry County grand jury this week on a first-degree murder charge in the July 16 shooting death in a boarding house.
Mark A. Mazzie, 32, of 16108 Garden Valley Rd., in unincorporated Woodstock, was being held on $1 million bond in the slaying of Daniel Cencula, 32, a resident of the boarding house at 431 W. Judd St.
Police Detective Jeff Rhode said Cencula was shot once about 2:30 a.m. during a quarrel in a common dining area where several people were drinking beer. A pistol was recovered from the house, where Mazzie was visiting his mother, police said.

Cencula was shot once above the right ear, said Judy Huemann, a coroner’s investigator.
Mazzie surrendered when police arrived at the house minutes after the shooting, Rhode said.
