Jack Tempchin and the Seclusions
After The Rain (Night River) (STAR) 1/2
Jack Tempchin made his mark as a songwriter for the Eagles (“Peaceful Easy Feeling,” “Already Gone”) and Johnny Rivers (“Slow Dancing”). Those endeavors obviously made him a lot of friends, as guests like Glenn Frey, Timothy B. Schmit, David Crosby and J.D. Souther check in on “After The Rain.” What that means is that “After The Rain” is a polished, adequate L.A. lite-rock effort in search of a few good songs and a singer who can sing them. Ever hear an album with Leiber and Stoller singing? Or Gerry Goffin? There’s a reason for that.
