The Dorr Township highway commissioner and his son have been indicted for buying several hundred dollars worth of auto parts with township funds and using them on their own cars.

LeRoy Eddy, 63, of 2604 Dean St., Woodstock, and his son, Larry, 35, of 2618 Dean St., a Highway Department employee, were each indicted for felony theft.

The LeRoy Eddy also was indicted for official misconduct because he allegedly used his position for his personal advantage, said Gary Marek, a McHenry County assistant state’s attorney. Both charges carry possible prison terms of 2 to 5 years.

Marek said Eddy, who has been commissioner for 22 years, and his son engaged in the scheme between December 1991 and last December.

The scheme was discovered when other township officials noticed bills for vehicle types that the township doesn’t own, Marek said.
