Chicago architect Michael Lustig, furniture-designer and architect Ioannis Karalias, and wood sculpturist Jerzy Kenar are among the more than 40 Chicago artists who have designed ornaments for the Chicago Athenaeum`s fundraiser to benefit KIDSpace.
”There are beautifully made ornaments in wood, stainless steel, glass, and various metals,” says Glen Ryniewski, a spokesman for the Athenaeum.
”They are really something to see.”
KidSpace teaches children about the importance of design in their living environments.
The ”Art as Ornament” fundraiser and reception will be held Thursday; 5 to 7 p.m. at the Chicago Athenaeum, John Hancock Center, 875 N. Michigan Ave. The ornaments will be sold in a silent auction.
Tickets are $15 for non-museum members; $10 for members. For reservations call the Chicago Athenaeum at 312-829-9650.
