Gingerbread hearts, chocolate truffle hearts, sugar cookie hearts-all the hearts your heart desires for Valentine`s Day-they`re in abundance at the Corner Cafe and Bakery, 777 N. York Rd., a delectable little spot in Hinsdale`s Gateway Square.

And if hearts don`t appeal, how about apple strudels, coffee cakes, scones, croissants, sticky buns, napoleons, fruit-filled cookies, cheesecakes or multigrained breads?

Corner Cafe is the dream of Mila Sebesta, who started baking at her mother`s side in Czechoslovakia. She moved to this country in 1977 and three years ago put her skills to work commercially in her own place.

Three women help her bake, but most of the Old World pastries and breads that appear every morning are her handiwork.

Five little tables with dark red cloths are set out for customers to sit with a pastry or sandwich and some fresh-brewed Viennese roast coffee. Special orders also are taken and free delivery is available for orders more than $25 within 3 miles of the shop.

Chocolate lovers may swoon over a $160 chocolate truffle cake decorated with hearts large enough to feed 75 people. A smaller heart-shaped truffle cake for eight is $18.

And those gingerbread hearts? They are just 85 cents each.
