E.U.

Cold Kickin` It! (Virgin)

(STAR)(STAR) 1/2

Like many go-go bands, E.U. hasn`t made much of an impact outside of Washington, D.C. Its hit single ”Da Butt” (from the film ”School Daze”), while undeniably funky, owed its success more to director Spike Lee`s patronage than a surge of interest in go-go music from outside the Beltway. On its second album for Virgin (and seventh in 10 years), E.U. roams deep into new-jack territory. ”I Confess,” ”Keep It Up” and ”I Ain`t Found the Right One Yet” are extremely radio-friendly slices pf snappy, well-manicured urban pop.
